Overview
Founded in 1955, Van Eck was among the first U.S. money managers helping investors achieve greater diversification through global investing. Today, the firm continues its 50+ year tradition by offering global investment choices in hard assets, emerging markets, precious metals including gold, and other specialized asset classes. Designed for investors seeking innovative choices for portfolio diversification, they are often categorized in asset classes having returns with low correlations to those of more traditional U.S. equity and fixed income investments.
Van Eck also offers exchange-traded funds, exchange-traded notes, separate accounts and alternative investments. In addition, it offers the Worldwide Insurance Trust Funds, a series of investment choices within the variable annuity contracts and variable life policies of widely known and highly regarded insurers.
Investment Philosophy
The Van Eck Hard Assets Fund invests among a highly diverse pool commodity equities, including oil and gas, precious and industrial metals, agriculture and alternative energy. The Fund is managed with a value-oriented investment style, encompassing both bottom-up and top-down commodity analysis. There are broad cycles in the hard assets sectors that are pivotal to successful investing. Used in conjunction with top-down analysis, a thorough knowledge of these cycles allows the investment team to efficiently allocate between sectors, taking the guesswork out of the equation for investors. Further, the investment team combines qualitative fundamental equity analysis with model-assisted quantitative analysis.
This combination has proven essential in delivering consistent returns with a
disciplined and repeatable investment process.
For over 40 years, Van Eck has specialized in natural resource investing. Over the years, the firm has greatly expanded its scope of investment products to encompass a multitude of hard asset markets. The firm has one of the most experienced investment teams devoted solely to the natural resources asset class.
